Overview: Students create a collage of imagery that pertains to their identity. Then they write an essay analyzing their collage for what it says about their identity and identities in general. Through the assignment students learn to analyze why they make certain choices and begin learning to use evidence for their claims.
Overview: Students create a map of one section of their social identity (e.g. Facebook, Church group, Sports team, Close friends, etc.) The map must be detailed with information about each person. The essay portion asks the students to analyze why these people are in their network, and what might cause stronger or weaker links in the network.
Analyzing Technology Assignment
Overview: Students choose a particular piece of technology and analyze it. They are to provide an understanding of the context that lead to its creation, its development since, and based on that analysis, where does the student see this technology going in the future. This assignments encourages the student to look in-depth at a single object and builds on research and citation skills.
